There are numerous walks from the site, take a stroll through the valley, along the river, or explore some of the nearby villages. Or if you feel more energetic, there are many trails for hiking of which we can provide routes and maps. The PR610 is a new 11 kms marked route through local small hamlets with lovely scenery which passes through the village and takes around 4 hours.

The roads are perfect for both road and mountain biking. There is hardly any traffic and the hills make the climb up worth it! We can provide maps and routes of the area.

Donkey trekking is very popular in France, since the Scottish writer, Robert Louis Stevenson, set off with his four legged companion in 1878 from the Auvergne and travelled 220 kms. It is a lovely way to spend a day or a morning, the donkey can carry your bags and perhaps a picnic for lunch, or even carry the little ones, if they become tired. Prices from €25 per half day per donkey.

Canoeing, kayaking, white water rafting are all available on the Allier River, approximately 45 minutes from the site. The River Allier, is quiet and unspoilt with spectacular scenery of the gorges on either side. Canoeing is great for families with courses from 1 hour to a full day available. Suitable for children age 6 years and older.

During the winter season, there is great skiing at Super Besse which is a 2 hour drive away.

There are 80 dormant volcanoes in the region which are excellent take off points for all sorts of activities from parasailing to hang gliding to hiking. The views are simply breathtaking. Puy de Dome, is one of the highest peaks and the best known take off points for free flying activities in the Auvergne and is situated 1 hour 30 mins drive from the site.
