Diary
July 2009

A fabulous month with sunny days, starry nights and lots of memorable moments. The beautiful, warm weather has meant lots of fun inthe sun with river walks, water slides and paddling in the pool.
The fairies have also been very busy with all the visitors this month to the garden. Our young guests, George, Hannah, Ruby and Hope spent lots of time there, chilling out in the hammocks and writing letters to the fairies - they even got replies!
Lots of beautiful butterflies and moths have been adding colour around the site. Along with the baby redstarts which have flown the nests and the baby swallows which are just spreading their wings, there has been lots of activity. We have also discovered that the fat dormouse which we found hibernating in the house last year has returned. We can often hear the mouse at night with its very loud mating cry, banging around in our loft! As much as we love them, we hope we do not hear the patter of tiny fee
t soon...

May 2009
May started off quite cool but it has gradually become hotter and the temperature has reached 30 degrees in the past week. Everywhere is much greener and the wild flower meadows are so colourful with all the beautiful flowers and butterflies. Spring is definitely here, we have swallows and redstarts nesting in the barn. We also stumbled across another spring baby whilst clearing out the beech woodland at the top of the hill side. The baby deer, or fawn
, was hidden amongst some dead wood. We were worried that it may be injured but when we returned later on in the evening, it had gone. We think that its mother had left it there whilst foraging for food. It was a real treat to see it so close up and Kathryn wanted to adopt it!
